Hi, Lucy Martin Gianino here. Norris and I were classmates at Sweet Briar College. I remember her as a young woman of outstanding intellect, great gentleness and a delicious sense of humor. Years later we discovered we both lived on the upper west side in Manhattan. I used to visit her often at the Riverside Gardens and we would chat for a bit. In fact I last saw her just in early June before I left for the summer. She will be sorely missed. Til later, dear Norris.

Anne Duguid Knol here, Norris's exchange student from St Andrews drom 1959-60. She and her family looked after me so wonderfully well, I never had a chance to feel homesick and felt immediately at home in Sweetbriar.

I am donna jeffrey, a member of The Garden People. Norris was one of our founding members from 1981. She signed our Articles of Incorporation, so we know she was the kind of Upper West Sider who made things happen, and we thank her.

Thank you for this lovely remembrance. I didn’t know Norris well as a member of The Garden People but this was an opportunity to know her in spirit. Leslie Verter

As a cat person myself, I appreciated learning of her affection for the genus Felix. Lovely music, lovely expressions, God bless.

Yes, love of cats was another way Norris and I connected -- when we conversed, one of the first questions was how are your cats?
